Bill Ermatinger, Corporate Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer

Bill Ermatinger is corporate vice president and chief human resources officer for Huntington Ingalls Industries (HII).
Named to this position in 2011, he is responsible for all human resources strategy, including compensation and executive compensation, health and welfare, benefits, employee and labor relations, learning and development, talent management/succession planning, talent acquisition, equal employment opportunity and diversity, organization effectiveness and change management.
Ermatinger has more than 25 years of experience in aerospace and defense human resource management. His most recent role was sector vice president of human resources and administration at Northrop Grumman Shipbuilding.
Prior to this position, he was vice president of human resources and administration for Northrop Grumman Newport News, where he directed the day-to-day human resources and administration activities. Ermatinger began his career in human resources when he joined Westinghouse in 1987 as an associate human resources representative. Since then, he has held a number of human resources management positions with increasing responsibility.
Ermatinger holds a bachelor's degree in political science from the University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC).
He serves on the board of directors for the Virginia Council on Human Resources, the Virginia Chamber of Commerce, the Virginia Living Museum, the Peninsula Metropolitan YMCA and the Achievable Dream Middle and High School Foundation. He also served on the board of directors for the United Way of the Virginia Peninsula and formerly served as its chairman.
