Summer Internships

Huntington Ingalls Industries offers summer internship opportunities with our HII Corporate office and Newport News Shipbuilding division in Newport News, VA and our Ingalls Shipbuilding division in Pascagoula, MS. Students will work full-time, 40 hours per week, for a minimum of 10 weeks during the summer months.

Summer Internship Requirements for HII Corporate & Newport News Shipbuilding

  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Be enrolled in a bachelors or masters degree program in Business, Computer Science, Engineering or Information Technology
  • Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA
  • Background check, drug screen and physical
  • U.S. citizenship

Newport News Shipbuilding ABILITY Internship Program

Newport News Shipbuilding is committed to recruiting and hiring individuals with disabilities. As an extension of the current summer internship program, NNS Talent Acquisition will accept applications for the “Ability” summer internship program beginning Jan. 1. Opportunities are available for both NNS and the Huntington Ingalls Industries corporate office. To qualify, students must have a documented disability on file with their university and a minimum 3.0 GPA. Students must be enrolled in bachelor’s or master’s degree programs in computer science/information technology, engineering or environmental/ materials science. Interns will work full time for a minimum of 10 weeks in the summer. Co-ops

Co-op programs give college students the opportunity to combine the knowledge learned in the classroom with practical work experience. By gaining valuable work experience in Co-op programs, participants are able to better evaluate their future career opportunities. Co-op assignments are based on a candidates goals, company needs, and are posted to the Careers site in the Students & New Graduate portal intermittently throughout the year.
