GET PREPARED FOR THE RACE

This year, two training programs are being offered to employees and family members who want to get prepared for the 5K.

Couch to 5K: Family Fun Edition:

This year, HealthWaves has revamped the Couch to 5K program to get family members involved. Think outside the box with the term “family” — it could be your spouse, kids, blood relatives or the people that mean the most to you. This 10-week program will provide weekly emails with Couch to 5K walk/runs and family wellness challenges for you to complete for a chance to win raffle prizes.

C25K: Family Fun Edition will begin on March 10th.  Contact Emily McCarley at healthwaves@hii-nns.com or 380-4578 to get signed up.

NNS Training Group:

Lacking motivation to exercise? Tired of working out alone? Join the NNS 5K Training Group. Runners and walkers of all fitness levels are encouraged to participate. The training group is an 8-week program and will meet weekly on Tuesdays to prepare for the NNS 5K. The only item required is a watch.

Group runs will begin on March 25th.  Contact Brady Goggin at healthwaves@hii-nns.com or 380-7646 to get signed up!

Testimonials from last year’s Couch to 5K:

“Enjoyed the Wednesday runs at the Noland Trail. They got me out of the house for running and walking that I probably wouldn’t have done if it wasn’t for the Couch to 5K. It was a workout for a non-runner.”

“I really enjoyed the training. It was beneficial in preparing me for race day.”

“This was an excellent program! I’m looking forward to the opportunity to participate in both the program and race this year!”

“Couch to 5K was a good training program. It gave individuals a chance to prepare for a 5K, whether it was their first time or a pro. I really enjoyed it and I enjoyed the people I met.”
