Ingalls Shipbuilding

Ingalls Shipbuilding, in Pascagoula, Mississippi, offers summer internship opportunities. Students will work full-time, 40 hours per week, for a minimum of 10 weeks during the summer months.

Summer Internship Requirements for Ingalls Shipbuilding

  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Be enrolled in a bachelors or masters degree program in Business, Engineering or Information Technology
  • Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA
  • Background check, drug screen and physical
  • U.S. citizenship or U.S. persons

Newport News Shipbuilding has college summer internships, Ability college summer internships and year-round co-op programs.

Summer Internships at NNS

Summer internship applicants will be placed at Newport News Shipbuilding or Huntington Ingalls Industries Corporate. Both are located in Newport News, Virginia. Students will work full-time, 40 hours per week, for a minimum of 10 weeks during the summer months.

Summer Internship Requirements for HII Corporate & Newport News Shipbuilding

  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Be enrolled in a bachelors or masters degree program in Business, Computer Science, Engineering or Information Technology
  • Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA
  • Background check, drug screen and physical
  • U.S. citizenship

Ability Summer Internship Requirements for Newport News Shipbuilding

  • Student MUST self-identify as an individual with any type of documented disability
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Must be enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program for the fall following the internship
  • Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA
  • Background check, drug screen and physical
  • U.S. citizenship
  • A letter from school/university stating participation in disability program
  • We will begin accepting applications for the 2019 Ability summer internship program on January 1, 2019.

Co-ops at NNS

Co-op programs give college students the opportunity to combine the knowledge learned in the classroom with practical work experience. By gaining valuable work experience in Co-op programs, participants are able to better evaluate their future career opportunities. Co-op assignments are based on a candidates goals, company needs, and are posted to the Careers site in the Students & New Graduate portal intermittently throughout the year.

  • This co-op is up to 20 hours per week and is completed while attending school.
  • For students in an Associate’s program

Part-Time Engineering Co-op

  • This co-op is up to 20 hours per week and is completed while attending school.

Part-Time Quality Engineering Co-op

  • This co-op is up to 20 hours per week and is completed while attending school.
  • For college Sophomores & Juniors

Full-Time Engineering Co-op

  • This co-op is full-time, 40 hours per week.
  • Three semesters are required. Two can be during summer. At least one semester will be completed during fall or spring school semesters.
  • Housing options are offered.
  • These co-ops are posted as needed for “hard to fill” positions.

Part-Time IT Co-op

  • This co-op is up to 20 hours per week and is completed while attending school.
