Christopher D. Kastner is corporate vice president and general manager, corporate development, for Huntington Ingalls Industries (HII). Named to this position in August 2012, he is responsible for leading the efforts to explore redeployment opportunities outside HII's core military shipbuilding business for the company's Avondale, La., facility.
Kastner previously served as vice president and chief financial officer for HII's Ingalls Shipbuilding division. Prior to HII's spin from Northrop Grumman Corp., he served as vice president, business management, and CFO for Northrop Grumman Shipbuilding-Gulf Coast and as vice president, contracts and risk management, for Northrop Grumman Ship Systems.
With Northrop Grumman Corp., Kastner served as the corporate director of strategic transactions and held positions of increasing responsibility in financial management, contract management and business management on the B-2, Joint STARS and Global Hawk programs. He also spent three years at Gateway Computers, leaving as the director of contracts and proposals.
Kastner has a bachelor's degree in political science from the University of California at Santa Barbara and an MBA from Pepperdine University. He also has completed an executive management course in mergers and acquisitions at Stanford University.
